[Feature Request] Video Preview Thumbnail feature for Fire TV

Please bring the Video Preview Thumbnail feature to the Fire TV. Currently this works with the Android player but unfortunately for the Fire TV. Thanks.

This feature should really be brought to all platforms that it can be supported on.

Perhaps explaining what “video preview thumbnails” are will increase your “like” count.

Here’s my attempt at explaining it…

when fast forwarding or rewinding WITHOUT “video preview thumbnails” you have no idea where you are in the show. forcing you to guess and hit play, and hope for the best. Video preview thumbnails put hundreds of video snaps shots on the time line so you have a pretty good idea where you are in the video.

Heres a link that better describes it: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202197528

Thanks

Yes thumbnails would be great especially after days of creating them with the plex transcoder.

The OP indicates that the Video Preview Thumbnails work in the Android TV version, but not Fire TV. I use both, but cannot see the thumbnails in either. My experience on the Roku, on the other hand, is far better. It does indeed use the generated .BIF files and makes navigating the video much more like Netflix. It makes skipping through the video content to find what you need much more intuitive than the “lets skip 30 sec at a time until we pass up what we want, then skip 10 sec back…” process, which can be very slow on Android TV/Fire TV, particularly the skipping back part.

Can the Roku-style thumbnail navigation using video preview thumbnails be activated on the Android TV/Fire TV client? It is vastly superior to the current 30 sec forward/10 sec backward alternative. I’m tempted to rip out my Fire TVs and put Roku devices in their place just to get that convenience, including on my Sony Bravia with the built-in Android TV.
