Feedback about PlexAmp' new Bit-Perfect feature on Android

Hi,

First of all, on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, the feature, set on Strict, seems to work nicely with the following USB DAC/AMPs:

  • FiiO KA3
  • FiiO JadeAudio JA11

So props to the devs for making it work with FiiO-branded devices!

Now, an issue I would like to report is related to Sweet Fades. If you have that feature enabled and it goes from a track with a certain sample rate and bit depth into a track with different ones, it cuts the ending of the track to start the next one immediately. A workaround is, of course, to disable Sweet Fades, which I did. But, I have two ideas of approaches to solve that issue in an upcoming update:

  • Don’t fade if the next track’s sample rate and/or bit depth is different.
  • Force disable Sweet Fades if Strict is selected for bit-perfect playback.

Thank you, and good work so far!

Just so you’re aware, you could also use the “smart” mode for sample rate matching, and not “strict” which makes the switching take place only at opportune moments so it won’t affect fades (or gapless).

It seems Smart fits my use case. When I shuffle or play a radio, the majority of my tracks are in 44.1/16, so the odd spec difference doesn’t bother me. Thanks!

I would like to add that I experience the same behavior with Schiit modi multibit. Everything works perfect but on those rare occasions where I have a hi def track somewhere it cuts off weirdly between tracks. I also had strict on and moved to smart and it is back to sweet fades.
