Sweet Fades don't work on Raspberry Pi 3b+ via USB DAC

I am having an issue similar to this one.

(Playback via Plex Amp has VERY abrupt track transitions when Sweet Fades are enabled; user thought it was a Loudness data issue but unlikely that is the case)

The response indicates a possible issue with using Strict for the Sample Rate Matching.
I want to keep this setting as I want the music played as unmolested as possible to my DAC, but then I set it to Smart to see if that fixed the issue. That fixed the issue

Is there any way to keep Strict Sample Rate Matching and have Sweet Fades work? If not I will have to figure out which I prefer I guess; bit perfect playback or sweet fades.

If it matters, I am using:

Raspberry Pi 3b+ (tried w/ wired and WiFi); 32 GB SDXC card, 8 GB cache (overkill but I have the space so…)
USB to TempoTec March III DAC
Balanced output to a Fosi Audio ZA3

Thank you!

Use Smart mode and not Strict, if you want sweet fades to work. The two are fundamentally incompatible.
