Figuring out what a file matched to

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896
Player Version#: n/a

I’ve been having trouble with one particular file. it’s being picked up by the scanner, but says it’s matched to another entry in the library. Querying the metadata_items table of the tb doesn’t provide an id that matches that item… which table should I look in to see what it’s being (incorrectly) matched to?

(this is from Plex Media Scanner.log)

Aug 24, 2020 14:28:11.100 [0x7fad08315300] DEBUG - Looking for path match for [/mnt/movies/xxxx (xxxx).mkv]
Aug 24, 2020 14:28:11.100 [0x7fad08315300] DEBUG - Path matched, we’re reusing media item 44295

In the web client, switch to folder view, and browse to the file, then you see it

Usually you can find these with the folder view instead of digging in logs and sql.

Can you share what you’ve done so far?

Added a file
Scanned
Can’t find the new movie you expected :eyes:
Removed the file
Added the file back

Is that right? If the movie is Ava (2020), it’s been incorrectly matching with Onward (2020) and causing a bunch of grief.

If it’s “Path matched…”, I think that means the file matches a row in media_parts.

I’m not sure if “reusing media item 44295” from the log entry is referring to media_parts.id or media_parts.media_item_id.

The folder view is increasingly hard to figure use as plex evolves… Used to be that you could see filenames in the list view - now when viewing by folder, you still just see files that are properly matched…

That said, you nailed it with the content… 2 files matched to the same movie entry. Ended up using the “split apart” option and then fixing the match for the second file fixed the problem.

thanks.
