FIle Name and Library Name not the same...

Hello
I put a file into the folder which my Plex Library uses.
Let’s call the video file “Beer.mp4”
When I check my Library or try to use my TV or Roku to go find the file it is not there, but instead there is another video file that is not in the folder, but in fact in another folder, for the example lets call it “Rum.mp4”. Not only that but if I choose that video to watch instead of playing Rum.mp4 (even though I really want to watch Beer.mp4) it plays something completely different like “Scotch.mp4”
Any ideas??

You will need to use the correct folder setup and file and folder naming for plex to pick up your media correctly. You did not specify if you were trying to watch a movie or TV show. Make sure your media is setup like below.

TV Shows:

/TV Shows
   /Grey's Anatomy
      /Season 01
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e01.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s01e03.mp4
      /Season 02
         Grey's Anatomy - s02e01.avi
         Grey's Anatomy - s02e02.mkv
         Grey's Anatomy - s02e03.m4v

Movies:

/Movies
   /Avatar (2009)
      Avatar (2009).mkv
   /Batman Begins (2005)
      Batman Begins (2005).mp4
      Batman Begins (2005).eng.srt
      poster.jpg

Here is how it is in the Folder.

It doesn’t play either on of those files if I select it…

In Windows file explorer, make a right-click on that mp4 file and choose
Properties - Details

This incorrect title is probably embedded into the file itself.

Here is how to disregard embedded metadata in Plex:
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase

Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase

Thanks for the idea. I have now tried that too and it still did not work.
Is there a way to have plex just use the file names?
I don’t need it to look to the internet for more information.
I know what the file is, I put it there.
