File Naming for Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett

I have a ripped version of the 12 disc set of Sherlock Holmes (https://www.amazon.com/Sherlock-Holmes-Complete-Granada-Television/dp/B000RPCJB6) The seasons are called different things “Return of…”, “Adventures of…” etc.

I am wondering how I might get Plex to recognize it as one TV show “Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett”, respecting the names of the seasons “The Adventures of…”, “The Return of…”, “The Case Book of…” and the proper names of the episodes.

How might I build a proper file structure? Is it possible?

Ideas I am working with…

  1. Single Directory
    “Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett/Season 1 - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes/Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - S01E01 - A Scandal in Bohemia” and then all other episodes, editing only the SxxExx

  2. Similar Named Directories per Season
    “Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett/Season 1 - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes/Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - S01E01 - A Scandal in Bohemia”

and then

“Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett/**Season 2 ** - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes/Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - S02E01 - The Copper Beeches”

etc…

  1. New Directories for Each Season
    “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett/Season 1 - The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes/Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - S01E01 - A Scandal in Bohemia” followed by Season 2 - the Adventures…

and then

“The Return of Sherlock Holmes - Jeremy Brett/Season 1 - The Return of Sherlock Holmes/Return of Sherlock Holmes - S01E01 - The Empty House”

etc…

Thoughts?

You can’t add season names in Plex. You can add a season summary manually if you want afterwards

Plex gets info by default from TVDB That show is this https://www.thetvdb.com/series/sherlock-holmes-1984

Your files should be like so to pick up that metadata from the TVDB

Sherlock Holmes (1984)/Season 01/Sherlock Holmes (1984) S01E01 episode name.mkv

yes a single show needs to be all in a single main directory with the seasons folders in that.

I “think” this is the series you are talking about and I have it in my system named like this:
TV <- The library points here
. . . . .The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1984)
. . . . . . . . Season 01
. . . . . . . . . . . . Sherlock Holmes - s00e01 - The Hound of the Baskervilles.mp4
. . . . . . . . . . . . Sherlock Holmes - s01e01 - A Scandal in Bohemia.mp4
. . . . . . . . . . . . Sherlock Holmes - s01e02 - The Dancing Men.mp4
. . . . . . . . . . . . and so on
. . . . . . . This repeats for all the other seasons.

That works for me in both Plex and Emby.
