File requested for photo transcode is over maximum size

I have photo collections of RAW that are from full frame camera (i.e. big file size). Plex reads the images, creates thumbnails, but I can not open the images. I get the error in the logs:
File requested for photo transcode is over maximum size of 104857600 bytes, refusing to transcode

This is a Plex installed on Synology NAS. As I understand the images are not actually being transcoded but resized? I can not seem to get any answers as 99% of related questions pertain to videos. The images are going to always remain on the NAS, I would just prefer to be able to access them from within Plex.

Is there a setting/config option that can resolve this? I know PlexPass will be needed for hardware transcoding, but that is primarily for video as I understand. Any options to resolve this short of converting the images to JPG?

There is an advanced setting for that. See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/.

The setting is TranscoderPhotoFileSizeLimitMiB
