File that are only HDR10 HVEC will not play, DoVi/HDR10 HVEC will play

Server Version#: 1.26.0.5715
Player Version#: 9.0.5.31871

Recently all my videos that are just HDR10 will no longer play. The loading indicator just sits there. Videos that are DoVi/HDR10 will play just fine.

Need DEBUG logs which capture the start of a playback attempt to diagnose.

OK, I’ll get that as soon as possible. Thanks

Se attached logs. The last 3 movies I tried to play:
Solo - marked with just HDR10 would not play.
Rogue One - marked with just HDR10 would not play.
1917 - marked with DoVi/HDR10 would play.

Either Solo or Rogue One, Plex crashed/restarted. All movies have been working fine until the last couple weeks.

This also seems to only affect the Plex app for Android TV (NVidia SHIELD Pro 2019)
Apple TV Plex app works fine, but I lose Dolby Atmos TRUEHD.

I am using the shield pro 2019.

I’m running 8.30.2 on Shield Pro 2019.

I also just upgraded Shield OS to 9.0.2.

The Shield OS upgrade , with 8.30.2, solved everything for me.

I can play 96 Khz audio, 59.94 fps 4K , everytthing, without issue.

Which version of Shield Experiencce and app version are you using?

I’ve had more time to dig deeper into the logs.

I’m really baffled that PMS is transcoding. The Shield is a powerful client and should DirectPlay these files.

It looks like your Shield app’s subtitle settings are incorrect.
This segment shows it’s forcibly burning the subtitles in PMS.

Please check the player settings for:

  1. Subtitles → Automatic
  2. Home video quality → Maximum

OK will do now

I checked in the Plex app setting on Shield
Home streaming → Maximum
Burn subtitles → Automatic

You got me looking around. If I go to the landing page for Rouge One in the Plex app on Shield. Then select the More … button and if I change the audio format from TRUEHD to 5.1 AC3 the movie plays fine. I have a home theater. I indeed have Atmos and other movies are playing Atmos. Also, Rogue One was playing Atmos just fine about 2-3 weeks ago.

Is there anything else I can check?

I think my issue is this →

I installed the beta version of the Plex app on Shield. It is working now. Well, the videos are playing TRUEHD, not sure what else the beta broke heh. I know how it goes. I’m an application developer.
