File unavailable for optimization only : Permission Issue

Hi,

I have an issue with the optimizer, when I try to optimize a movie (I’ve try several), I have the message “undefined failed items” with the error : converted files cannot be written to the server’s disk.

My configuration is working for watching movies. Plex is installed on CentOs and I have mount my synology repository.

I think it’s a permission issue, I’m having plex install on CentOS 7 using this tutorial : Plex Media Server on Minimal Centos 7.0.

When I’m logging on the CentOS, I can create directory or file on the repository share (but only after a su),I don’t understand were is my mistake but it is related to root permission and maybe missing right for my plex user.

If you are using SAMBA.

Switch to NFS, open write permission on the Synology to everyone for that share.

I’m not a big fan of everyone write access, and it’s not ok to switch to NFS, because I’m using the same repository with all my windows computers.

I’ve just check and I cannot delete an item from any library even with the setting “Allow media deletion”.

If anyone has a better idea that changing protocol and can just help me to fix permission, thank in advance.

Allow me to clarify something here.

If you are concerned about deletion with NFS, just as is true with any sharing protocol, NFS supports ro (Read only) share definition for all with rw for a specific user.
