Linux server with synology nas permission issue

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1913
Player Version#: 4.8.4

I have a setup with Ubuntu version 18.04.1 running the server component. I have all the files on a Synology NAS. Playback is working fine, not problems. If I try to optimise a film I get a write permission error ‘Converted file cannot be written to the server’s disk’.

Clearly there is a permission issue, but I have been unable to locate the issue. The account setup in the mount has all full read and write access to the nfs share. what am I missing?

Hi,

It looks like there is a NFS option missing, I do not know which, but have a look on NFS documentation you can find on internet.

Second, try another network file system such as samba just to be sure the problem isn’t elsewhere and not a permission issue.

You should also check with the plex user to read and write on the NFS volume.

Create user plex on the Syno.
Give user plex permission to read/write to the share (NFS users username plex)

If you need more info or another option, please let me know.
