Filename protocol for TV shows with two stories in one episode?

How should I name my files for TV shows where the broadcast episodes included two separate stories? It’s for old 1960s animated shows - like the 1967 Spider-Man - where each half hour show had two standalone stories.

Here’s how they’re broken down on Wikipedia’s episode guide - 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b and so on.

On my DVDs they’re playable separately, and they’ve ripped as separate files, but Plex gets confused by having two S01E01 for example, and if I rename them so that the second story in episode 1 is now S01E02 then that screws up the naming.

Is there a way of formatting the file names so that each story is accessible separately, while still scraping the correct episode data?

Which agent are you using for this tv-show library of yours? According to what I could find on The Movie Database and TheTVDb, each story should be reflected as it’s own episode when using the aired order. DVD order on TheTVDb seems weird as it’s listing multiple episodes with the same season/episode.
Wikipedia isn’t necessarily a good reference in this context as Plex isn’t using any of their data.

Examples

Generally, the Plex naming schema supports single files containing different episodes/stories.

Example

TV Shows <- the folder linked to your tv show library
  Show Name (Year)
    Season XX
      Show Name (Year) - sXXeYY-eZZ - optional information.ext

Where XX is a placeholder for the season number, YY for the number of the 1st episode and ZZ for the last episode number. .ext is a placeholder for the actual file extension.

Yeah, sorry - I’m using the default Plex TV Series search agent. I don’t seem to have TVDB as an option any more.

I’m certainly not using Wikipedia to source the data, just as an illustration of what I mean by “one episode containing two separately listed stories”.

With the new agent you don’t have to rematch the show to a different agent in order to apply a different episode order. You can now directly override this order in the advanced tab when editing a show.

Aah, thank you! I think that might do it.
