I’m having issues with a TV show being detected correctly. As far as I can tell, I have the file structure and files named correctly according to TheTVDB. After working doing the Plex ‘dance’ on Sunday evening, everything appeared in the library correctly. Then, Plex DVR recorded new episodes for the show on Monday and Tuesday (by ‘new’, I mean episodes I don’t currently have in my library. I have the series setup to record new and repeat airings). When this happened, not only were the newly recorded episodes not tagged correctly, but it took existing episodes that were previously tagged correctly and put them in other seasons.
Again, Sunday evening, everything was showing up correctly. The DVR recording a few new episodes yesterday and today, and when I checked the library this evening, this is what I see. I have Plex web player open to season 11 of the show in the background, with the folder the files live in in the foreground:
I realize that the file named of the S11E04 isn’t correct, but this is how Plex DVR saved it (and it had tagged it correctly on Sunday).
I tried taking the whole TV series folder out of the file structure, re-scanned, cleaned bundles, empty trash, and then I tried moving just the season 11 folder back and re-scanned. This is how it’s showing up now (I renamed S11E04 to the correct episode name in the meantime):
It’s very odd, because the episode artwork is correct, the episodes were correctly placed in Season 11 in the library, but it has season 7 episode names?
I can partly understand that new episodes recorded from DVR may not be tagged correctly due to guide data differing from TheTVDB (I understand this dilemma, but I find it to be unacceptable in a paid product-surely there should be a way to match the guide data to the correct TVDB data), but I don’t understand why adding an unrecognized episode is causing previously correctly tagged episodes to disappear / be renamed, and I certainly don’t understand why it’s not pulling correct episode names when I pared it down to just a single season.
Possibly contributing to this issue is that sometimes the DVR names files with a date / timestamp. For example, I found these two newly recorded files:
Doctor Who (2005) - 2018-10-29 01 40 00 - Planet of the Dead.ts
Doctor Who (2005) - 2018-10-29 00 20 00 - The Next Doctor.ts
I believe the scraper is trying to interpret the date stamp as a season / episode number.
