Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of PMS some (not all) recorded tv shows have the incorrect season and episode title. Specifically, the date and time recorded in where the season and episode number should be and the show name is where the episode title should be. Is this a known bug and is there a work around or fix?
That’s exactly what I was wondering. Regardless, the new tv shows I record end up in season (directory) 2020 with eash episode named the same at the tv show’s title. This just started happening with the latest PMS. The curious thing is that some recorded tv shows are named correctly, while others are named incorrectly.
I’m wondering if I have the same similar problem.
Plex DVR has started naming the files with the date rather than with the Season/Episode format. Or maybe I never noticed before.
Not sure why I’m not getting S09E03.
On other series, I’ve started getting Season (Year) as the folder created instead of the Season ## folder.
This is the exact same thing that is happening to me but only sometimes. Sometimes the episode will be same normally (i.e. s01e01) and other times the episode will appear in a folder named Season 2022 with the episode title being the same as the show title. This just started happening last week with the version that came out before Christmas. I just updated again last night and it hasn’t happened today so the may have fixed it or maybe it’ll start happening again tomorrow.
I’m going to update to Version 1.21.1.3876, but there’s no mention of the recording naming convention in the release notes, so I don’t expect it to solve the issue.
It does not appear to be happening for all shows, and the file name formatting is also inconsistent, which makes it hard to reproduce.
For example, last night my DVR recorded a few different shows.
That is exactly what I’m seeing. Sometimes it names the shows correctly, sometimes not. I’m also going to update to the new release. Any ideas on which forum we should post in?
So if the guide data is wrong/inaccurate/missing info, then you could see recordings with odd or incorrect naming.
I don’t know what the best solution is, the new guide data should be better than the previous provider, but is still not (and may never be) completely 100% accurate, 100% of the time.
I think in the past this problem has been because the EPG information didn’t include Season/Episode for a show. So Plex fell back to using the date format to differentiate recordings. If that’s what is happening I would assume as the EPG gets better this problem will go away.
I haven’t used Plex LiveTV/DVR for quite awhile. I switched over to Channels DVR for recording OTA stuff and am quite pleased. I keep in touch with the Plex LiveTV/DVR by having it on my test server.
Thanks, @TeknoJunky. Just wanted to make sure we were in the right place.
I had never seen this issue until a couple of weeks ago, so I had presumed it was stemming from a PMS update. But with the change to a new source of guide data, I agree that it could come from there as well.
What is strange to me, though, is that there is an inconsistency on the same channels. I record a lot of shows for my kids, so I was surprised to find that one show on Nick Jr would have the correct season/episode info and other shows wouldn’t.
I’m going to check more closely across all of the Nick channels to see what the info looks like.
