Files non-discoverable in Windows File Explorer but are cataloged and usable in Plex

Server Version#: Version 1.32.0.6918

Hello all,

Have an interesting issue where five seasons worth a televison show (Dragon Ball Z) are cataloged and playable through Plex, but those files don’t appear visible within Windows File Explorer. I’ve enabled “View Hidden Files” without success. Obviously the files are resident on the drive, but does anyone have an idea as to how I might make them discoverable. I’ve tried copying through the command line without success.

All the best,

Have you already checked out / verified the actual path of those files, e.g. via :pencil2: > Info on an episode or season?

Hi tom80H,

Thanks for the reply. I sure have. Here’s what Plex reports as the path for a single representative espisode:

P:\Shared Television\Dragon Ball Z \Season 3\Dragon Ball Z - S03e01 - Password Is Porunga.m4v

However when I attempt to navigate to the same location via file explorer I received the following message:

"Windows can’t find ‘P:\Shared Television\Dragon Ball Z \Season 3\Dragon Ball Z - S03e01 - Password Is Porunga.m4v’. Check the spelling and try again.

Is your PMS running under a different Windows account (e.g. if you’re running it “as a service”)?

Hi tom80H,

Thanks for the question. The PMS is not running “as a service” and is running on an admin permissioned account.

I suppose you got this error message when you entered the full path into the File Explorer’s address bar. Can you access the P:\ drive and drill down to the location (or up to what level do you get when attempting to drill to that path)?

Thanks for the question.

I can get to the ‘P:\Shared Television\Dragon Ball Z' folder where the folders for season 6-9 are visible and the folders for seasons 1-5 aren’t addressable.

Thanks,

Is P: located on a type of NAS device? If so, take a look at this thread: UNC Path not working following update to 1.32.0.6918 - #50 by sa2000

Do you have system files hidden?
