Files straight from Google Drive, where is the buffer?

Most of my big TV Shows are stored in my Google Drive account. With RaiDrive (or NetDrive), I use my Google Drive as a local disk so Plex thinks it’s a local file. My question is: where would the buffer be, where are the temporary files stored when it goes from Google Drive, to my computer, through Plex, and to my devices while it’s playing? RAM (I hope), the local disc C, or wherever the Plex directory is?

If it has to transcode or “Direct Stream”, chunks of the data are stored in the “Transcoder temporary directory”
(Settings - ‘Advanced’ - Transcoder)
By default, this is located inside the Plex data folder on drive C:

So if I have an SSD as a primary OS drive, should I install the Plex Directory to another drive? I’m worried it’s going to wear out the drive. SSD’s wear out much quicker than HDD when constantly writing and deleting files.

You will probably out live your SSD. They are not as bad as you think.

You can choose to leave the plex data folder on the SSD, and only move the transcoder temp folder to a different drive.
