Plex transcoder temp location

hi guys still fairly new to plex and was wondering where the transcoder temporery files are stored does anyone know ? and also are these files permenent on my system even if i delete the movie ?
to add also so your aware at the moment im using it default which is just a blank text box.

appreciate any responses guys thanks , ross.

The default location is inside the Plex data folder.

And it is usually emptied if you press Stop in the client. (Unless there is some problem with permissions or the storage volume. Rare, but not unheard of.)

Yes, it’s local on your server device. Click on the orange text in my above response. It explains the location.

ok thank you for replying so quick, i appreciate it , so do these files just keep building and building and need deleting every so often ?

No, as I already explained above, they will be cleared out after the playback is finished.

ah ok and if i delete a movie from my library will that cache go along with it , or does it remain there ? thanks

It will be gone, long before that.

how do you mean sorry ?

Unless you delete the movie while the very same movie is being played, the transcoder temp location will always be empty.

ok thank you so if i close my plex server itll all go ?

There is no need to close the server.
Only use the STOP button in your client(s).

im on desktop where is the STOP button ?

i just closed my server and re checked the folder and refreshed its the same its full ?

The filled rectangle, like on every other player I know.

Please define “full”.
How many files and how much storage capacity is occupied?
In which subfolder are the files exactly?
Are you 100% certain that there are no other Plex clients streaming off your server at the moment? (Paused playback is considered active streaming)
Have you allowed Downloads off your server?
Are you perhaps currently within the time window for the daily server maintenance? https://support.plex.tv/articles/201553286-scheduled-tasks/
