Since the last patch, I have that problem that auto generated collections are shown in all my movies. And if there is only one movie of a series then there is a collection too.
If I choose collections at the top filter there will be shown only the collections, thats fine. But if I choose movies, I dont want collections too in that opinion.
And my question is. Will there be a fix in the near future ?
You can select if/how you want inline collections to show via the library settings. In the “advanced” section, there’s a field called “Collections”. You can select “disabled” – this will remove inline collections from the Movies view (still available when you pick collections view). Alternatively you can chose to hide movies which are contained in a collection – from what I see in your screenshot, you pretty much have 1 movie per collection… I suppose that won’t be of much help in your case.
You should consider stopping Plex from automatically filling the collections tag based on The Movie Database (also in the library settings; option is called “Use collection information from The Movie Database”). I love the option but sticked with manually editing the collections in the individual movies.
Seeing your library, it looks odd as you even get collections from movies that don’t exist as a franchise etc. (e.g. “Alles steht Kopf”… there’s no sequel and no such collection in The Movie Database). What agent do you use for this library of yours – or did you manually add some of those collections (when editing the movie via Edit > Tags > Collections
)?
There’s a nice overview on how to use the updated Collections feature in this Plex support article:

no fix… you can vote for some of the related feature requests. If you want to keep some inline collections but e.g. not the ones with only 1 item – there’s 1 feature request going to set a minimum number of items before collections display as inline collections. By liking the original post you can promote the feature request
If you are using MP4 files, Plex will create a collection out of the content of the embedded meta tag ‘Album’.
Handbrake is notorious for populating this, unrequited.
Most time I let the standard agents work. So Plex Movie and The Movie Database do that job with these worried collections.
It would not that great problem if these collections would not shown with filter “movies” but these collections are shown in both filters.
And yes most movies do I created with handbrake of my older DVDs.
Thanks all. I found the option to deactivate collections if I directly select the mediathek at the left side and choose edit.

I suppose from now on I’ll post nothing but pictures
And yes my english is not that good to understand all. For some not english speaking people a picture is more worth then twenty words
The irony is, all the three of us could have just used german.
not in a non-German subforum… that’d have been rude.
I’ll remember next time to move it over there
