Find where to watch something with "Discover" and your "Watchlist"

So I havve noticed that where you get to the show from makes a difference. If I click on the show from the home screen continue watching list it doesn’t give me the option, but if I go to the library & select the same title it does.

Most free streaming services are. Unfortunately there is not, as of yet, a way to add things from multiple regions.

I definitely think that is not best. Sure, people know, & I think we should be able to add from multiple, but I can scroll through the list of stuff in my region, scrolling through all the regions piled together sounds horrible. Plus for MOST users seeing 50 Netflix (Region) entries is a hindrance not a help.

Really loving Discover. The search feature is killer. A couple of issues on Windows 10:

The streaming service opens in a browser window and doesn’t open in its own native app (if present). This would be preferable for Disney+, especially, because the web app maxes out at 720p.

From Plex, Disney+ and Prime don’t immediately play a movie/episode. It’ll take you to the movie/series landing page instead. Hulu works fine in this regard, though.

It would be great if we could change the country, from which the streaming services are checked for availability.

Use Fiddler to get the API calls that plex makes. To get watchlist content for example, its the following:

'https://metadata.provider.plex.tv/library/sections/watchlist/all?X-Plex-Token=' + user['token']

to remove something from the watchlist, its:

 'https://metadata.provider.plex.tv/actions/removeFromWatchlist?ratingKey=' + self.ratingKey + '&X-Plex-Token=' + self.user['token']
(make sure to use the 'put') method, its the only one allowed.

There are also availability calls to check for the streaming services, but sadly it seems there is no way to select the country.

Edit: After a bit of guessing i found the necessary argument. you can change the country (at least for one api call) by adding the following argument:

&X-Plex-Country=US

An availability check would look like this:

 'metadata.provider.plex.tv/library/metadata/' your-rating-key-here '/availabilities?X-Plex-Token=' your-plex-token-here '&X-Plex-Country=US'

I just read BW post where he confirmed developers are working on toggling “More Ways To Watch” in Search which is really great.

Similar to that, is there a way to hide/toggle Free On Demand in Search? On top of it hiding Similar Titles in Free To Watch section which is shown first in every title from Discover (non-PMS)?

@plex Would an in-app browser an option when clicking on an external movie/series/… for future updates? Also the amazon prime buton sends me to amazon.co.uk website instead of primevideo.com?

  • Any plans to make watching the external media on the plex app itself? Any partnerships, … in the making?

Would love to be able to watch netflix, prime, apple, disney, etc… directly from my beloved plex app.

Which Plex client type/platform are you experiencing this on?
Or is it the same everywhere?

The issues mentioned above is only for Windows app. On android phone it works great, slow to startup but works like I want it to. On ios I get “Discover is currently unavailable” check your connection etc. And am unable to test it out

Which one do you mean by that description? There are at least 4 different Plex apps running on Windows.

  • the hosted web app
  • the local web app
  • Plex Media Player
  • Plex for Windows
  • Plex HTPC

Have you updated somethings  ? Because now it does go to the correct page on primevideo.com instead of amazon.co.uk

Self-fixing errors are the best.

But seriously: it might have been reported earlier already.

I scrolled and scrolled and could no see any mention of this issue on my Android phone. When I launch the app I get this screen but can’t go past it at all. I saw a few on r/Plex complain of the same issue. I can toggle the Add Discover but that is all. Help pls.

I am on version 9.1.0, so you are saying uninstall and revert back to an earlier version?

Fix for beta’s is only in version v9.1.0.31883

Where do I get the fixed version?

I assumed you already was on the beta since on V9.1.0.x ?

If so, should be on Google playstore, but note it was just released, so maybe not yet in your region

And if not, then uninstall, and install v9.0.5

And beta link:

Thanks, yes I am on the beta but no update yet available on playstore in Australia. Thanks for your help.
