Should have given customers the ability to completely gut it from their implementation
You should have gained each users explicit consent in accordance with GDPR, that does not mean you can say “continued use of Plex confirms your permission”
I urge all to vote to have this made optional, cancel your Plex Pass subs in protest and generally kick up a fuss.
I didn’t ask for this, I do not want this, I do not want Plex analysing MY DATA, not making decisions about MY DATA nor selling MY DATA because it is MY DATA.
This is not a feature or a benefit, it is a covert spy tool that Plex will monetise.
It’s been 3 days since lunch and I still have the problem “No streaming services found for your region”. I am in Puerto Rico and I have many streaming services.
Anyone else having issues with Xbox app and new discovery feature. It pulls up and shows me the service to stream but I can click on anything. It only shows me where to play it
This is tied to Plex’s Video on Demand Online Media Source. Disabling it will remove that search section and the related hubs from the universal details pages.
I appreciate that you spread some light on certain details. Thank you. Just keep up the good support. I assume, you guys were caught by surprise a little bit about the “mixed emotions” here or there.
Thank you for staying open-minded.
Cheers. Just want to step in and reach a hand to whoever is listening.
I just want to make sure I understand correctly. Once you opt-in, there is no way to turn this feature off, and to opt-out of? So essentially for those of us who just want to try, but may not want to feature enabled, we can’t even turn it back off?
Now that the system is aware of outside streaming services, I would like to have a tagging system similar to collections where we could specify the exact services it was on. So if we buy a movie on Blu-ray + digital, then we could add any of the services that Plex knows about as a verified alternate option.
That direct link would need to only show up on local accounts though since any guest accounts wouldn’t have access to my Vudu account.
When Plex does roll this out, are you going to actually let beta be part of those users with Experimental? Or it just going to be a public push again?
Because as of right now I have no reason to believe those content restrictions will be working correctly, and since there is no way to disable it, and parental controls have already been ignored…
I’m having a real hard time being ok with seeing it pushed without actual testing being done.
Just disabled all options and that worked perfectly for Search, thank you. However, related section is still present. Would that be a bug?
I love Similar Titles btw below Movies/Show but it should be like we see on IMDb etc. where the algorithm gets the best matching title but not just limited to Plex content.
Discover can be unpinned, and devs confirmed to be working for toggle feature of Search, Watchlist still has streaming info though. If you’re asking for one click Off then it isn’t there yet. It’s better to stay on older clients for now if you don’t need it. There is feature request which might interest you: [Implemented] Fully Disable Discover & search results from Streaming Services (More Ways To Watch)
Jump as in opening streaming app? Then yes, it’s working.
