Hi,
I like Plex and have the Lifetime Pass since a few Years.
Now I changed my setup to a LG Soundbar DSN8YG with the Rear Speaker Set, it is 5.1.2 with Atmos support.
The stick is connected into the soundbar hdmi IN and the hdmi out goes to my Beamer.
When I play files via Plex i get only sound from the front (I think stereo), my soundbar told me Dolby Digital is coming in. The diagnostic from Fire TV 4K Max tells me everything is right connected and the Dolby Atmos Demo from the Fire stick is amazing. Also wenn I Play UHD Disks from my UHD Player everything is Fine. Netflix and Amazon content also uses my surround system.
The LG supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, so it should be playable everything it becomes.
When I enable HDMI Passtrough then on every video I get an error and no video could be played. Ac3 or EAC3 with 5.1 or 7.1 is not played. If I deactivate the passtrough then every file plays fine at direct play (even if it is not TrueHD, which the stick don’t support). But that’s OK, a „normal“ 5.1 surround sound is enough what I need.
I tried it on another TV with another Fire TV 4K Max and when I enable the hdmi passtrough I get the same error. There is just a cheap 2.1 soundbar connected via HDMI-Arc through the TV, these Fire stick is connected via the television.
What can I do now to get more then stereo sound? I have 3 of the Amazon Fire TV 4K Max sticks because otherwise they are great experience playing Netflix, Amazon or a legal Live TV service from my country. And because I have Wifi 6 Router the connection is 1.200 Mbit, more then enough for network play.
Please help me, thanks, happy new year,
Stoffel
edit: Now i have Plex App 8.28.0.30077, but the problem still exists. Passtrough of DTS with HDMI works now, but all other not.
