Fire TV 4K - trailer playback now always decodes and won't play natively on Fire TV stick

Server Version#:1.28.0.5999
Player Version#:9.6.1.34323

Hi,
i’ve noted during the last few months when using Plex on my fire tv 4k stick that when i select a trailer to view (which I assume is coming from something like youtube) my plex server always seems to transcode the audio to AAC-OPUS. I’m pretty certain in older versions the trailers were streamed natively to the firetv or at least in something the firetv could play natively as i’d never noticed this issue before. I am guessing something has obviously changed but I’m not sure where. Is this a known issue and is there a workaround. My plex platform does not have any grunt at all (NAS box) and i use it purely for direct play (most of my content has simply AAC audio to ensure as wide a compatibility as possible). Since the opus issue has reared it’s head trailer playback does not really work now (as obviously my NAS takes forever to transcode it!).

Hoping there’s some magic setting to fix this!

thanks.

It’s an issue I am looking into.

Assume this may be similar to the thread I’ve seen for the Nvidia shield which seems to suffer the same problem. I have tried the latest BETA for PMS but the issue persists. If you need any logs please let me know.
thanks.

This should now be fixed in the current beta. You can sideload it from the beta announcement or wait for it to come through the Appstore when it is public. Release Announcements - Android TV beta - #549 by marekszulik
