I’m not sure when this started, but it’s quite recently.
I have the Plex app on a 2024 Panasonic Fire TV. It will play videos, remote media, etc, but any attempt to play a music file gets ‘an error has occurred’. File format doesn’t matter, MP3 and FLAC both fail. It used to play okay, I guess the last time I tried it was earlier this year, so it looks like this was caused by a recent update to either Plex, AFTV or both.
I have the exact same version of the app, right down to the commit (98d97dae) on a 2020 Sony Bravia and that plays music just fine.
App audio settings are original quality, advanced settings have audio passthrough HDMI (soundbar is connected to HDMI e-ARC), insecure connections on same network, I/O cache on. All default. Disabling audio passthrough makes no difference.
I’ve tried clearing the app’s data and cache, that didn’t change anything. Seems like this might be something like Plex trying to use an audio player that’s not there, but I can’t see any settings to change what it uses.
[Update: Jellyfin can play music on the AFTV, all formats. So it’s a Plex/AFTV problem.]
Anyone got any ideas, or had/solved the same problem? Thanks!
