Not sure if this is the right place or not. I rarely have issues and post in the forums…
I have an Amazon Firestick 4k. It works great for everything EXCEPT Plex for some reason. It used to work fine. I have an official dongle to allow for wired connections. It seems like the app itself has not been updated in ages, and I have quite a few issues.
My biggest complaint is that whenever I decide to watch something, it seems like 90% of the time it sits there thinking then crashes back to the Firestick home screen. It will do this MANY times before deciding it will play. It doesn’t matter what kind of content I’m wanting to play either, DVD, BluRay, 4k, LiveTV (DVR), Music, it all does the same thing. Being a Firestick, I have no idea how to acquire any logs to help me figure out the problem.
My next issue is with the Continue Watching. Whenever I load up the app, it WILL display the Continue Watching section at the top of the Home menu. However, if I navigate over to pick something, that section completely disappears. This happens 100% of the time, I’ve never had it work right when launching the app. However, if I use the left menu and go down to the next entry, and then go back up to the Home entry, the Continue Watching will reappear, and I can navigate to it. But, as mentioned above, most of the time the app will crash and I can’t watch anything anyway.
It’s really troubling. I have Plex on my Xbox One X, and it works flawlessly, even with it connected over Wi-Fi. My TV is the same way. It’s connected over Wi-Fi, and will let me do direct streaming (no transcoding) of 4k with no problem. Interestingly, yesterday my TV even reported the new beta feature for the new Discovery link in. So I KNOW it’s getting updated. I haven’t loaded my Xbox version up in months because I just use the TV, but I’m sure it’s been updated too. So the question is, why hasn’t the Firestick app been updated yet, and why does it continue to have crashing issues?
