Amazon Fire Stick 4K

Hello,

I watch Plex content from my library via Apple TV most of the time. However, I received a couple of Amazon FireStick 4K units and connected them to other TVs in the house. All the streaming services work fine, and I have installed the Plex client that Amazon lists for the FireStick 4K.

When I launch Plex, I can see my library contents just fine, but I cannot play anything back. I click Play, the screen changes and then reverts back to the library view in a minute or so. Playback never happens.

In the past, I could get TV shows to play from the Plex library but movies never would. Now nothing plays back at all… The FireSticks are all up to date from a firmware perspective.

I use IVI Pro to prepare the files for the AppleTV. I can watch them on non-Apple devices and the Plex client on my phone and tablet work fine with the files.

Can someone tell me please what I am doing wrong? I have hundreds of movies and shows already in my Plex library.

Thanks!

Ross

I would check the Fire Stick’s WIFI connection to see what speed your getting.

Also, I would check two things:

Settings → Transcoder and make sure transcoding isn’t disabled.

Go to settings of your firetv and change local/remote quality to original/maximum

Thanks for the things to check folks. With the guidance provided I was able to get Plex functioning properly on the Fire Stick 4K. Sincerely appreciated
