When using a Firestick or other android based device and switching between home users, it will often get “stuck” on the last user’s content. Mainly the home screen view is not forced to refresh every time a profile switch is made.
For instance I have a kids user profile that only has selected appropriate shows and movies. However sometimes when I open the kids user profile it will display content for the entire movies and shows libraries that the admin account has permission to access. Which has inappropriate content. Not only does it display the posters, it even allows these titles to be played on a profile that doesn’t have it shared with them.
It seems to revert back to the correct media after i switch between profiles once or twice.
Some caching is not refreshing correctly every single time a profile is switched and the content view is getting jumbled.
This has happened to me as well on both my android device (nokia 7.1) and my firestick 4k. What i’ve noticed is it seems to load the entire profile of the admin account instead of my other home user. So its not just that the filtering is disabled… its showing my recently played shows as well. Like jimbo i have to switch users a few times to get it to correctly show my other user correctly (I have it limited to only display tv / movies with a specific tag)
just happened again on my firestick 4k. I would click on a show and only the background image would show up, so i tried backing out of plex and going back into it. Same thing happened. So I decided to try switching to my wifes profile. First try gave me a “failed to sign in” error. I clicked her user again and it loaded, however it is showing the “On Deck” of my admin account
I have seen the first issue of this. My son has a kids account, under my home users. This limits the content they can see. Somehow my son did something to cause plex to need to sign back in, however, it displayed my enter server as my admin (main) server account. This gave him the ability to watch anything. I signed back in and changed to the kids account. It still showed my server as if I was in my admin account. I ended up backing out of the app and back in. Then the kids account functioned normally.
This is not good because I don’t want this to happen again and allow my children to access adult content
