Unable to view quality pass 720 when using Amazon fire stick. 1080 and above is not listed. I can select play original quality but it just freezes. I’m wondering what that could be since we can obviously see high quality movies from places like Netflix and Hulu etc. Can the problem be on the server end im trying to watch from?
While playing something bring up the controller. Select the three dots on the far right and choose Playback Info. If it is transcoding it will say why
Hi BigWheel. I have an issue on the Firestick too, where when I use the Plex app on it, when I go to select the quality I only see 720p and below, even if I choose “Show All”. It doesn’t go above that. However, on another Firestick I use in my bedroom, I see all the way up to the 4k options.
Please see my post above and look at what I asked the other user to look at.
Ok since it says it exceeds max allowed then there is a setting that maxes out at 720p or the bit rate.
The two places that could be set is in either
- the main app settings (not during playback)
I recommend turning off Auto Adjust Quality if it is on and check the home and remote quality settings and change them both to maximum - your servers remote access setting
If it is the remote quality or the ones in server remote access settings then need to figure out why the app thinks it is not on the same network as the server.
