Poor connection/streaming quality on Firestick 4K

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2438 (dockerized)
Player Version#: 7.28.0.15501 (FireTV 4K)

I’m having trouble somewhere in my setup. I travel 90% of the time with work, so whenever I have connection issues, I just figure it poor hotel wifi or something. Usually I notice that my Plex server will say that the server is fully accessible outside of the network, but the speed from the server won’t be higher than 2mbps.

In searching the forums, I know that is the limit of using the Plex Relay service, but I don’t think my server is doing that since it’s “fully accessible”. Anyway, I thought it was crappy hotel wifi until I started using Netflix and Prime on the Firestick (since the video from Plex was so crappy).

So Netflix and Prime stream just fine, so that has me thinking that something might be wrong with my Plex set up. Why would Plex quality be so bad for streaming, but the other services stream fine on the same connection? My server is on a AT&T Fiber 1Gbps connection so I don’t think that would be the bottleneck.

It just happened again so I’m attaching my server logs. I tried to get the Firestick logs from network logging, but the site won’t load (probably an issue with the hotel wifi)

Check out this thread - explains the solution

Recently, plex video quality has deteriorated on firestick tv 4k. I installed airplay on my firestick, and then ported plex from my iPhone or iPad, and the video quality was back to the previous HD performance. This would suggest that the problem is with a recent change to the plex app for firestick. I suspect that it is not buffering a lead to insure HD video quality.
