Hi I’m wondering why transcoding does not start when trying to play an unsupported video file. The source is VP9 Audio should be AAC. If I play the Video on my mobile phone, it gets shown in a correct format. On the FireTV, my TV switches to SD resolution and the video is played back in a rather strange format. Looking at the logs it looks like (no surprise) the FireTV does not know the codec, but I would have expected the the Video would be transcoded then ?
The Fire TV 4K device does support VP9. Your log also show this.
It also appear you have refresh rate switching enabled and for some reason it found the best match for your TV to be 720x576. I’ll need to check with the devs why it chose this one. The app did also find a 1920x1080 resolution. For now, turn off that option and you should be fine.
Hi, thanks for the Info.
If I’m disable refresh rate switching, the resolution is selected randomly each run. Sometimes 720p, 1080p or something much lower.
Disabled resolution switching however nails it to 1080p/50.
