My firestick Plex software just got updated.

One the main screen now, the “what’s on now” line is now useless for looking at local OTA TV. It seems to have been combined with Plex provided channels, so many that I can no longer find my local OTA TV channels.

But worse, the live TV browser function seems completely broken. When selected, I get a spinning circle that never stops. This was a useful way to look at OTA programming and is now useless.

I just noticed the favorite channels which is a nice feature.

But I don’t really understand the rationale for merging the DVR live TV with the Plex network channels. Perhaps to promote the latter. But it’s like trying to cram 10 pounds of stuff into a 5 pound bag. A lot of good stuff just got lost. Guess I’ll have to fall back and turn off auto updates and hope for improvement.

Today the home screen “what’s on now” issue persists. But the more serious issue with the browse function appears back to normal back under “Live TV and DVR” as before. Late yesterday it was under “Live TV” and “Live TV and DVR” was missing.

I’m not quite sure what happened there as the version number hasn’t changed. But maybe I don’t care if it’s working right.

Just got an update pushed that looks better than the version from a couple of days ago I’d complained about. The issues which I had earlier seem fixed although I literally just got it so don’t know what other issues there might be. But my first impression is good.
