FireTV Cube doesnt update to newest Version (after reinstall v8.3)

Hey,

how to update the plex app on my firetv cube to newest version to get the new discover features?

It was running on 9.0.0 but no update was available in store. i have deleted the app and reinstalled and afterwards it was v8.3 ?!?!
It shows some Update with changelog “app can crash on some devices”. But update fails.

i am a little bit confused. any guess?

Check the version in the Amazon app store (link). Mine shows 8.31.2.31546 (I’m in the US).

Amazon takes longer than Google to approve new app versions. As a result, the version in the Amazon store generally lags the version in the Google store, sometimes by two to three weeks.

If the version in the Amazon store is newer than what is on your FireTV Cube, click the “Deliver” button (using the web interface to the Amazon store). It should push the update to your Cube.

You can also download the current or beta release from the announcement threads and sideload it to the Cube. Note that sideloaded apps do not auto-update. You will have to uninstall the sideloaded version and re-install the store version to receive auto-updates.

If you sideload, use the Amazon Fire OS Devices (armv7a) version. The other versions will not work correctly on Amazon Fire OS devices.

For sideloading directions, Google “sideload FireTV app” or similar terms. There will be many hits. Look for directions that mention the Downloader app, which makes it easy to sideload an app.

You also might want to grab the Fire TV remote app from Amazon. Why? Because then you can open the Plex Android Release Announcement thread on your phone’s browser and copy the link to the app, and use the keyboard feature on the Fire TV app to easily paste the URL into the address bar on the Downloader app.
