FireTV Randomly Gets Stuck Starting Videos

Player Hardware: Amazon Fire TV 65" Omni QLED Series 4K (with integrated firestick)

My FireTV randomly gets stuck starting videos: The yellow circle just keeps spinning indefinitely. This happens both with videos played from the beginning and videos resumed from the middle.

The only consistency is that once it got stuck on a particular video, it will keep getting stuck if you retry, but other videos may or may not work. After force-restarting either the app or the device, usually the same video works fine. It also works fine on all my other clients connected with the same Wi-Fi to the same network in nearly the same position.

This may have been fixed in 10.16. The app is not yet live on Fire TV but you can side-load the app from this link if you don’t want to wait.

Thanks! It seems like a Plex client update could fix that.

Unfortunately, while I can download the apk you linked in Downloader and press the install button afterwards, the installation fails every time. No error message, but the process always ends with a not-installed message and if I check the version number in the Plex client it remains 0.15.

You may need to uninstall the currently installed app. But the update should be available in the store now.

I see that my FireTV Plex app has autoupdated to 10.16.0.758 now! If I notice this problem again with this version, I’ll reply here. Otherwise you can assume the issue resolved.

I am afraid it is still happening with 10.16 if maybe less frequently. Happy to provide any log that might be helpful.

Yes can you please provide your Fire TV Logs, a sample file would be great as well.
