Server Version#: Version 4.54.5
I’ve been running a PleX server on my Mac for nearly eight years now and have never encountered this issue. It has been pretty catastrophic.
As of yesterday the posters for all of my libraries disappeared without explanation, regardless of whether they’re a Movie, TV Show, Music or Other Video. Just blank gray squares, sometimes with a title and the release year on it, sometimes not. This problem didn’t only appear on my server, but another Desktop and my Roku when I signed in.
Then my server’s home screen went blank. No movies or videos showing up at all, but the libraries still appeared on the sidebar. I tried to re-customize my home page and BAM! - without warning everything vanished. No media, no libraries. it appears I need to rescan every bit of media, rebuild my libraries and playlists, re-select the appropriate posters and re-check and refresh all of the metadata for thousands of files. In short: it looks like everything was erased and I need to start all over again.
You can imagine that any Plex user’s response to something like this would be, “Please, for the love of God- no.”
First of all, does anyone know what may have happened here? Was it something I did? Because if so, I’m completely confused about what went off the rails and need to avoid it in the future.
Second of all, is there a way to recover all of my preferences, playlists and libraries in a way that doesn’t involve starting from scratch?
This has never happened to me before and I can’t make heads of tails out of what caused it. Any suggestions and help wouldn’t only be appreciated, but a complete lifesaver here.
