Just given it a quick whirl and I’m already wow-ed. I can’t wait to see where this goes. With the completion that’s clearly coming this is shaping up to be THE Plex client!
As far as general direction goes here though I do have a couple of suggestions:
Please make as much user-configurable as possible. I’d rather have an options page that takes 10 minutes to read than have something that I can’t change.
Consider moving music playback controls to the bottom app-bar (similar to the Web player). This would let us control playback while also browsing for more music. Still keep the “now playing” screen though.
Building on that- the play queue displayed on the “now playing” screen for music. Pretty please can we do away with a separate “edit” mode and have an always ready drag-and-drop reordering (using a little handle on each item if necessary). Also stick “delete” and other options in the “…” menu, or better yet have it all in a context menu enabled on right-click.
Not sure if this one’s possible but can you adjust scaling based on touch-detection? If so can we get thinner entries (track listings, popup menus for view, queue actions, etc.) for mouse use, and have them all pad up when touch is detected? I appreciate this may not be possible- maybe able to link it to the system being in “tablet mode”?
Ultimately though guys I cannot express how impressed I am so far. This really is shaping up to be everything I hoped it would be. Can’t wait to be using this as my daily client.
Thanks for the feedback @TheMooDude, and I’m really glad you’re enjoying it!
Extra options: The problem with having tons of options is twofold. It makes it overwhelming for people that just want to find a simple X, and it does complicate the code somewhat. So I think we’ll continue to add options for things that make sense.
Music player PQ improvements: :-bd
Scaling for touch: In practice the _maintainable _ way to do this is to have elements that work for everything, no matter the input. Are you struggling to hit sort/view/etc with touch? Or are you using mouse and think they are too big?
My primary experience is with a Mouse. While it’s usable and DEFINITELY an improvement over the 8.1 app in terms of sizing, it does still feel a bit padded in places. It’s not a massive issue or anything though, and if the best way to approach all device types is to have a single layout that caters for both inputs then it’s absolutely fine- just me being picky
Something I didn’t mention which is probably relevant is that the “desired” size of our list elements is what the Sort and View Type menus look like. The PlayQueue [+] button list is way oversized and just hasn’t been updated with the new style.
That’s reassuring as I do prefer the sizing on those. Are the flyouts for “filter”, “players”, and “now playing” going to be styled to match those other flyouts? I appreciate that these ones contain a custom layout rather than a simple list but it would be nice to have them at least similar in style.
Players no, but it will change a bit. Filters yes.
