There seems to be no Direct Play functionality? As you can see in my image above, it says: Highest Quality.

But no I started another movie, and I don't have a Highest Quality option.

Only 20Mbps - 1080p and below..

That means everything is transcoded?

No, if you select the Highest, the application will attempt to Direct Play the video, if it's natively supported. If the "Highest" option is missing, this might indicate our first bug :) However, if the "top" one is selected, we're trying our best to Direct Play.

Hm, I get an error whenever I try to play anything.

"Error

Unexpected Error

An unexpected error occured. Please check your device is connected to your network and try again."

The device is obviously connected to the network, the device is also on the same subnet (of course..) as the server.

Wonder what the issue is... am able to play from from other clients.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. It might be best to create a separate forum post so that we can talk directly about this bug and try to help resolve it?

I'm getting a no server found message?
Server version 0.9.10.3 or higher. But when I access my server on pc it says 0.9.9.14
Oh wwe'll hopefully it's just a minor lunch bug

I'm encountering the same issue - both my SynNas and my Mac Server clients are 9.9

Hmmm, try "quiting" the application via the Context Menu and open it again?

Seems like all MKV's are transcoding right now, NAS CPU is stuck near 100% when playing any of those, hopefully we can direct play if that next Xbox update supports MKV.

Just to point out 9.9 is too old, you need 9.10. Please find the latest versions at https://plex.tv/downloads?channel=plexpass

Quick update, seems to be only one specific show/episode causing the issue. Must have something to do with the format/transcoding I guess.

Will write up a post tomorrow to help you guys pinpoint it.

I hard rebooted the Xbox One that seemed to do the trick.

I too am getting the server not found initially, but it does find it on the retry.

hi guys sorry if this sounds stupid but I installed plex a long time ago(so pretty old version I have) - I have installed it on my xbox one but it says my version is outdated. Where are the download files for the server part? at the moment on my mac, I have to browse to a plex folder and type the following sudo ./PlexConnect.py for the server to start, I can then launch the front end(plex app) and everything is fine. I need to update the backend files but I cant find the download for it? every one I download is just the app. please help

OK, something doesn´t work for me.

MKV´s and avi´s do not play at all. MP4´s work perfectly.

I deleted my custom Xbox One profile to avoid any confusion but nothing changes.

Any suggestions ?

Initial thoughts -

1) Not even close to Plex Home Theatre, 

2) No options to change views

3) No options to view media info as the file is playing

4) Mkvs always transcoding, even with Oct preview installed (hopefully somebody will release a profile for this)

5) cant skip forward 10 mins while playing a movie, its like Plex interface is on top of the MS's own video player.

6) Videos all seem to play fine apart from the higher bitrate ones which struggle with transcoding.

7) Interface is very sluggish when scrolling through movie/tvshow artwork.  At least compared to Plex Home Theatre.

8) no channels
