Initial thoughts -

Are you using Ethernet or Wi-Fi on your Xbox?

Seems like all MKV's are transcoding right now, NAS CPU is stuck near 100% when playing any of those, hopefully we can direct play if that next Xbox update supports MKV.
I just tried a mkv file and it Direct Played (the video stream at least). Check to make sure that you have the playback set to "Highest" within the XB1 Plex app.
EDIT: The video actually said Direct Stream, not Direct Play. This would indicate that it is repackaging the file because .mkv isn't supported yet. Still better than transcoding though, and should be resolved entirely once Microsoft includes .mkv support in a future update (which has already been acknowledged by MSFT).
All good but hmmm subtitles are *way* too small. Can't find any option to tweak that. Anyone?

Like i mentioned few posts back. It's quite random. I only have .MKV's on my Plex Server and sometimes the 'Highest' is the top quality. And with other movies, only 20Mbps - 1080p is the highest possible option.
I also have the Oktober Preview Update so my Xbox One fully supports .MKV files.
Like Ian mentioned, it seems to be a bug.

Its due to the CPU on my server being maxed out with the transcode. I'm assuming when I get to Direct Play the files they'll play fine.
I am trying to play my movies through my iPad using Plex. It does not give me the option to cast it to my XBox One like it does for the Chromecast. Is that not available yet or am I missing something?
Okay, just checked my Activity Monitor on my Mac mini which serves as my Plex server.
When i watch a movie and it says: Highest (in the Quality menu) I get a Plex New Transcoder proces with a 100% CPU activity.
And when i watch a movie and it says: 20Mbps (as highest option in the Quality menu) I also getting a Plex New Transcoder process with +100% CPU activity.
So absolutely no Direct Play right now? Or is it the audio it's transcoding from DTS to DD 5.1?
/edit: Nope. I'm watching a episode of Homeland right now. It's 1080p with DD 5.1 soundtrack. Quality is Highest and audio is AC3 5.1 but the transcoding process on my Mac mini still kicks in with 180% CPU.
OK, something doesn´t work for me.
MKV´s and avi´s do not play at all. MP4´s work perfectly.
I deleted my custom Xbox One profile to avoid any confusion but nothing changes.
Any suggestions ?

Nevermind => I made a repair installation and now it works.
Something with the profiles got mixed up ...
Argh... I wish I was home to test right now... Anyone know if embedded MKV subtitles work?

Oh my, the browsing is really gonna get old fast. Really don't like the double coverflow view, really should have implemented an option for the list view.
Also can we not set it to default to 'Highest quality' for all videos rather than having to select it every time we play one.
