FIX the sidebar Library pins pleeeeeeease!

Every single time I login I have to click on home > more > and pin the libraries then change every library view from recommended to library on EVERY device I use to view my media.

The idea to have these pinned settings be client saved is ridiculously annoying and the reason most of my family prefers to use our Emby media server.

Recommendations only works if you go in and rate movies which most of my family users don’t do from their viewing clients. Also recents doesn’t work for TV shows when you add a series and so the carousel is ENTIRELY populated by a SINGLE series.

OMG, please give us the ability to default the behavior to library until you guys can figure out how to make this work better.

Sidebar:

  1. Add a master setting to Default all libraries to pinned.
  2. Change sidebar settings from CLIENT saved to SERVER saved.

Main Pane:
3. Add a master setting to default all library views to (all alphabetical)

Recommendations:
4. Regarding TV shows, Limit the card carousel to a single entry from a given series.

Which client are you using where this isn’t working?
Works fine for me on Plex for iOS / Apple TV, Plex Web and the desktop version of Plex on macOS (the new one as well as classic Plex Media Player). Plex is also syncing the pinned libraries / customizations across clients of the same type.

First, I have settings sync enabled and I log in with another browser and no libraries are pinned.

Second, what are the metrics on web usage? I’m guessing the web usage is low compared to other methods of access.

This setting needs to work and needs to be available for all mobile, console, and firestick clients.

All I can say is it works for me…

When using the web browser to access Plex:

  1. use https://app.plex.tv
  2. instruct your web browser to not delete “cookies and other website data” belonging to the domain plex.tv
  3. make sure to create this exception in the settings of other software which deletes cookies routinely (“CCleaner” et. al.) as well

Are you using Windows or Linux, because it does NOT work when the media server is on Linux (LUbuntu LTS the most common of Linux distros for long term dependability. I switched from Windows when i kept having to reboot the Windows Plex service once per week.)

I use windows now for about 4 years… I had nothing but problems keeping PMS running using a Linux Distro and I tried most of them. I also run a number of servers and it keeps it correct between them.

I have 3 Roku’s, and a few other devices including phones and tablets. and for the most part they all seem to be sync correctly, Since they all don’t work exactly the same there are differences but for the most part it works like it should. the pinned items are correct.

I used Windows 7 for the first 5 years of using Plex. i had the damnest time keeping the service running despite setting the service to automatically restart. So i switched to Ubuntu. I was having no issues for the longest time, until I did a new server build with Lubuntu (the lightweight version) and added a second server.

Added the second server makes Plex not work for spit. I can’t get both servers to work simultaneous and can’t get to the other server settings to fix the issue.

These sidebar changes make Plex COMPLETELY unusable. EVERY time I log in from anywhere I have to re-pin EVERYTHING.

I think I’m done with Plex and just going to stick with Emby despite using being a lifetime member of Plex for years contemplating a second purchase.

That what my servers are running on… currently
