[Fixed] Plex app stuck on logo/doesn’t launch

Player Version#: 5.4.0 (Info from the LG store)

So, I was going through some of our media few hours ago when out the blue, the Plex app on our LG tv crashed (no error messages of any kind, no mentions of some possible memory issues… it just crashed) and since then, the app simply doesn’t launch anymore :confused:.

It stays stuck on the logo for some time (few minutes) and then, a message stating:

Plex is taking a long time to start

Plex may continue to load, but if you think something’s wrong, you can restart the app (optionally clearing settings). If you continue having issues, please let us know on our forums at https://forums.plex.tv

Which is pretty much what I’m doing by posting here :sweat_smile: … reporting that we’re having issues as we were invited to do so…

Plex still works on all of other devices but not on our tv anymore :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

We rebooted everything, checked if anything needed to be updated within our setup (but apparently not), I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app on our tv with the same results: The Plex app just doesn’t launch…

If anyone has any idea on how to troubleshoot this, that would be really appreciated :blush: … as this has been going for hours now…


Well, after a nth uninstall/reinstall (also taking this as an opportunity to remove apps we don’t use on our tv), we attempted a “full power cycle”, reinstalled Plex once more… and it successfully launched :smile:!
No idea if the “full power cycle” actually did anything or if something changed on Plex’s side in the meantime … but it’s back on :grin: !
