Flinging music directly to HEOS – is this possible?

Hello!

I have a DENON AVR (with the HEOS system) and a PLEX Media Server. Accessing and controlling my music library via the HEOS app (via DLNA) is a huge pain, so i’m looking for alternatives.

I CAN use my PLEX app on my phone to stream (fling) music from my PMS to the AVR, but my phone needs to be running all the time in order for this to work. I don’t want that. Also, as soon as a second phone comes into play, it won’t see the same queue.

I also CAN use the PLEX app on my Fire TV to access my PMS (which is much nicer than the HEOS app), but i don’t want to have to turn on my TV all the time.

So, is there a way to remote control the PMS and fling music directly to the AVR?

Alternatively, can i use another 3rd party device (like a Chromecast) that i can remote control in oder to achieve the same thing?

Thanks!

HEOS and generic DLNA are not supported for casting.

Chromecast (Audio), Sonos and other Plex clients are supported

Thanks Otto, this sounds promising. Appreciate the links!

I’ll try to get my hands on a Chromecast device that i can then remote-control with one (or all) of my phones.

There is a feature request to get better integration with HEOS. You might consider voting.
