Folder structure question on my NAS

Server Version#:1.15.3.876-ad6e39743 on a Synology DS215j
Player Version#: AppleTV current version

Hello-

I have a Synology DS215j NAS connected to my home network to (mostly) watch stored movies and TV shows on my Plex AppleTV app.

I’ve got various folders on my NAS (Home, Homes, Plex, kirkp5560 -my user name, and one other I think)
I can access some of my videos via the AppleTV Plex app. The files are scattered in various of the above folders or sub-folders of those folders.
I’ve gone through and named all the file naming according to the Plex support articles…
For Plex, which folder should the following sub-folders be in (Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos)? Once I put all the video files in the right location, can I get rid of all the other main folders?
Thank you

Plex doesn’t really care about where you put the files.
As long as…

  • you have linked the respective parent folder to a Plex library (you can have multiple folders linked to a single library – however they should always contain only 1 media type, e.g. movies or tv shows – never both in the same folder!)
  • the files are visible to the plex user on your NAS
