I love the ability to add Local Media Assets to items in my Plex servers.
Is it possible to add NFO files common on Kodi systems. They are explained in Kodi documentation as:
“NFO files can be used to provide metadata to the library for video and a music files. They are helpful if the metadata fetched from a web site does not match the video or music you have, or if data for that particular file does not exist, such as for home movies. It can also be used to control the search behaviour of scrapers.”
This would allow us to create our own metadata for items on our servers when none is available from online resources or when the metadata from online resources is wrong or inappropriate.
Seems like if Plex can accomodate SRT caption files, accommodating NFO should be straight forward.
It’s great that NFO data can be imported from Kodi - - that means Plex can handle it.
But the use case I have in mind is dropping an NFO file in the same directory as the media, subtitles, and artwork using the same file naming convention.
This is probably called a native feature.
This is needed for media that does not have a commercial source e.g. home movies, personal music, etc.
