I’m on 7.4 and it works like a charm – but from what I remember it’s been fixed since back in May.
I’ve done a forced update to 7.4 but I still don’t see the option.
Can this be because of an outdated version of the server?
Oh and shouldn’t the folder view just be next to where you select grid and list view:
Nope.
There’s no “Folder view” in the first place… but you can switch to display your media “by folder”.
For a movie library… click on the “Movies” (next to the 93 in your screenshot) to switch between showing your library by movies vs. folders.
It’s the same for tv-show libraries where you can switch between displaying your library by show, season, episode or… folder.
Same for music library where you can switch between displaying your library by artist, album, track or… folder.
Hmm this is super weird. For TV shows I see a list of the items you talked about, but no folder view.
And for movies the button is inactive.
I’ve double checked and I’m running 7.4.
Any idea what might be causing this?
Here are screenshots of the TV screen and Movies screen.
And the server is Version 1.15.3.876 (version 4.39.1. of the player I think)
You should update your server… that version has been released nearly 2 years ago.
If I remember the release notes of 7.4 correctly, this will also be the last version supporting that old server version.
Edit: I stand (slightly) corrected… from the 7.4 release announcement:
- This will be the last release to support Plex Media Server versions prior to 1.15.2.
Bingo! This worked. Plex is now usable again! Thanks
