It is not a matter of looking into it, it was once supported, it is very well known, and it is an enormous amount of work to keep working, not to mention it makes the content providers very unhappy. The channels themselves require almost endless development to keep up with the changes made by them.
It was never supported on Linux, support on windows is close to dead now that Chrome has moved away from using it. It is primarily required to enable Flash and Silverlight video - silverlight is now a dead technology and flash is dying. Content providers use flash and silverlight to enable DRM content and this is no longer required with DRM techniques now being enabled in HTML5.
It is not about bringing it up to speed, it spent its entire life being worked on as it is used to trick DRM content into playing in ways it is not designed to be.
It is dead, and most people are very happy to see it die - it was a huge resource suck that is daily providing less and less benefit.
@Trudge that is very sad. Just when I thought I had a maxgo solution it is now taken away dammit! I guess I will use it till it is gone. Thanks for the info ;)
That was short lived, I still can't believe this isn't much more widely used for so many applications. I hate trying to use max/hbogo showtimeanytime via the web, as well as hulu plus, netflix. Some of these are built into the Apple TV sure but for PMC/PHT on a mac or pc and various other clients I would much rather just use a simple remote where everything is implemented into PMS. These are the providers I want to use easily especially when I have legit accounts for the ones I'm using, if and when these 3rd party providers are ported to html5 why not in the meantime have this up and running especially maxgo for plexconnect isn't what this is all about? These 3rd party providers have it pretty locked down I don't see the harm with having a little more much needed decent content on the atv. Bring on the 3rd party on demand I sure am ready! :P
@trudge jesus man 18TB! Are you running a PMS @ a hotel? I wish I lived in hong kong next door I would back feed a ethernet to your switch if I could :) Feel free to invite me to your myplex :P
