Food Network

Whatever changes were made, FOOD NETWORK is functional with PlexConnect and ATV now!!! YAY!

HBOGO and CINEMAX TOO

Yeah, I noted in the channel thread that Twit TV live was working now. I even have managed to get the odd NaviX media to play, although it is still very hit and miss.

Yeah I got NAVI X to play too! This is exciting stuff! Now all I need is a solution to stream NBA games.  Any ideas?

Is this only for plexconnect on atv or does it work with pmc on mac? I cant seem to get it to work for hbogo and cinemax using directv. Can you give a tut on how you fixed hbogo and maxgo ive added the bundles and put in my info into pms but it crashes pmc on mavericks? Food network worked on pmc tho.

I don't know if it makes a difference but I am running .9.8.10 PMS on a windows 7 machine. Hbogo and Cinemax has been broken since I can't remember which version.

Here's the thing. I didn't do anything special. I added the bundles, went into media manager to enter my credentials for comcast, made sure to keep an eye on WebKit as I went through the menus in atv, and it just worked.

Whatever changes were made in the new plexconnect commit or new PMS made this possible. Honestly I'm just a lucky noob. I don't kno much about WebKit and macs. I don't think they're compatible? I could be soooo wrong lol.

If you want to make a dummy pw for your direct TV account and PM me, I can test that out for u and let u know for sure your account works with those bundles. Sorry I can't be more of a help to you.

So do you need webkit to make it work? Did you download the hbo/maxgo bundles from post #1 here: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/56614-hbogo-channel-plugin/

Are you using plex media server the latest beta I assume?

As far as my understanding goes, Webkit is an absolute necessity in order for hbogo and cinemax to work.  Webkit is used in order to log in to the TV service provider's website.  So basically, ATV mirrors exactly what is in the webkit window.  Or for me it does, but this is the first time it has ever worked for me.

I am using bundles that came out over the summer.  Probably mid July. So if they have not been altered since that date, then yes I am using those bundles.

.9.8.10 is the plexpass membership newest version of PMS.  I believe that is the newest beta version of PMS.

Question for you, If ATV is able to mirror what is in the webkit window via plexconnect, is is possible to create a web browser that uses webkit?

I have no idea, never used webkit before.

Why not use the ATV HBOgo app?

I want maxgo as well, it would be sweet  showtime anytime would be great also but i dont see that bundle yet.

Better question: What is a webkit window?

Webkit - as far as I understand that term - is the "engine" behind Apple's Safari, Google's Chrome, Mozilla Firefox (? no so sure about that), Opera (?). Basically it is an html rendering machine. Search for a browser? Pick one of the named...

Well i am able to play hbogo on my main mac with pms and via pmc. Atv2 with plexconnect and remote pmc mac client is a no go as well as plexweb on my ipad. Im assuming this is because im not running a webkit window which I have no clue how to run on any platform. Ive enabled webkit under transcoder in pms settings and upgraded to the latest pms 0.9.8.10. If we could get this going using multiple os’s it would be great for various bundles that require something similar. Plex guru’s help us get this going!

On windows 7 machine, if you enable webkit, there's a window that's opened every time you run PMS.  So when I run HBOGO or CINEMAXGO, that webkit window shows what's loading and my atv mirrors exactly what the webkit window is showing just with a 3-4 second lag.

What I meant was make a web browser for apple tv.

I downloaded a few thing but still no luck on osx:

http://nightly.webkit.org/

I’ve installed and followed this guide here which you can easily download any developer files by signing in with you regular apple I’d :

http://www.webkit.org/building/tools.html

I also installed the latest flash and silverlight all on my pms server but still cannot get a webkit developer window to go. Anyone want to take a try at this on osx?

I was able to get it to work on my other pmc by installing pms/pmc and the maxgo bundle :), its a start would like to get it ported over to plexconnect playing on the atv though using my mac that would be sweet! If you are having issues with it sometimes you need to quit pmc and reopen it. It also resumes where you left off watching another nice bonus.

I was finally able to stream from my ivy bridge pms to my sandy bridge pmc after installing soundflower. Now I can watch maxgo/hbogo content on my main pms/pmc as well as my other sandybridge mac pmc. I will enable plexconnect soon and post results  all on mavericks!

What am I missing here? OSX already uses WebKit. It is the basis of Safari. It is Windows boxes that need an installation of WebKit, not OSX.

Plex no longer support Webkits channels on any platform, some will still work but all will break over time.

@ institute11 I agree with you that mac uses web-kit, after further investigation I found out most web browsers do, most actually originated with web-kit. The issue is that you need a few other things to get web-kit based providers to work such as flash, silver-light, sound-flower at least on osx for this solution.

@ Trudge Plex should really look into web-kit. I was able to get it to work on a ivy bridge build really well. I can now watch max go on my plex clients using just a remote. I would imagine you need a hd3000/hd4000+ build or a decent video card to get this to work but still how can you beat having web-kit based providers that would not accessible otherwise on say atv or pmc's just by using a remote. You can obviously use a web browser to use webkit based providers but If web-kit was brought up to speed we could get a lot more channels to work that would otherwise just be unusable because it needs some work. In a sense web-kit is almost airplay mirroring, on pms to pmc's be it a pc/mac/linux, atv, roku, ps3/ps4 etc. What is really nice about it is most of it is already there, for example instead of being limited to just using maxgo on my pms server I can broadcast it everywhere I have a client without the need to log into maxgo using multiple occurrences which in time gets me knocked off of maxgo. Also me and jdillinger as well as others have this solution working on the latest pms build on plexapp.com 0.9.8.10.215. Also there is reports of other users having this working on other threads if you wanted to take a look. I really think this will open the door for entire on demand solutions if you look at the bundles that the first link op has designed for hbogo/maxgo such as Comcast, Directv, netflix, hulu plus, etc and many other providers as well as other many possibilities I cant even imagine. Web-kit based channel removal would be a step backwards when most of the major providers are based upon them.
