For Plex to play home-made audio files

So I run a table top RPG game setup over the web for me and some players and we record the sessions so we can go back and listen to it for the following week (or just to recall something from weeks prior). It saves it as an mp4 file so it should be able to be read easy enough. It is downloadable for the people, however it is not able to be played via Plex proper.

It’d be nice if Plex could play home-made audio files.

This seems to be more of a bug report – not a feature suggestion.

Is there anything odd about those files?
The only time I’ve seen some hiccups is with super-long (multi-hour) audio files which for some reasons didn’t play on one client type.

Also… what do you mean by the files aren’t playing “properly”? – are they not playing at all or are they kind of distorted, cut, mangled…?

So, I mentioned that ‘Plex proper’ as in the program isn’t playing them at all. The audio program runs them fine. It’s (Plex) not seeing the audio files at all as something that can be played (gives an error of file not playable).

It’s possible it’s because they’re larger files (our game sessions do tend to last up to 4 - 6 hours, longer on some days). It will show the files, but not the file names (shows as an individual item that’s blank). Will not play them back. Just over all not working ‘as intended’? Or maybe it is, and the audio files are supposed to ‘only’ be for music (which would suck but eh…).

I’d like to have the ability to share the game sessions with my players via the audio setup in Plex, so if personal files that are long are not supposed to work, then making Plex do so would be a feature suggestion.

If the files should work fine, then it’s definitely a bug issue. My problem is I don’t know which it is (very much comes off to me as the former than the later, simply because none of the audio files have visible names on them and insta-glitch on trying to play them).
