Hello,
Server Version#: Version 1.20.1.3252 (running on unRaid via plexinc/pms-docker)
Background: I recently did a fresh install of Plex Server and recreated all libraries and scanned in all the media from my server, I have 4 movie libraries and most of them works well and the movies got added back in with the original date added.
However, after multiple metadata refreshes and re-scans there are two issues I cannot fix:
Issue #1: For some items in one of the movie libraries, the date added gets populated with the date I recreated the library and not when the movie was actually created in my collection like in the above picture. I checked the DB and it seems that half of this particular library got scanned in there this way (see screenshot below):
The items above the red line is accurate and shows up with the right date added in the library, however the ones below the red line is causing the problem, even though these were ripped and created much earlier. All of these are coming from the same share and location in my server.
Not sure if Plex uses the locally stored xml or nfo files, but nfo and xml files are saved with these all my movies (from old xbmc practices) with all the tags and they show date added to be many years back (comparing the same movie below.).
What is the best fix for this issue - is deleting and recreating this library the best fix or should I try to the update the DB table added_at with the values from created_at?
Issue#2: Now that the trakt plugin is not working and the webhook doesn’t pull info from trakt (only pushes info to trakt), what is the best way to restore all the watched status of movies?
@MovieFan.Plex mentions that there are two different ways added_at can be handled on import. If it’s a “new” library it takes from the file dates, vs. if you’re “adding” content it uses the current datetime.
I think it comes down to what else you’ve done with the Library and metadata, vs. your comfort level with the SQL update process.
Thanks for the response. I was creating a new library from scratch but everything was showing up as new, not sure what went wrong. Anyways, that issue is fixed, I went ahead and deleted and re-added the library again, and using the new agent it was pretty fast and everything looks good.
The only remaining issue is the one below, any idea how I could get the watched status imported without trakt.
Issue#2: Now that the trakt plugin is not working and the webhook doesn’t pull info from trakt (only pushes info to trakt), what is the best way to restore all the watched status of movies?
I don’t use trakt. If trakt is your preferred source of view state, you might be better off asking that in another topic thread.
But there is this, below. Do you still have your old .db files?
I dunno if it will work if you changed between the legacy and “new” movie scanner agents when you upgraded. Plex changed to using a new style of primary guid for media. They added back the old-style guid as a secondary guid. It’s worth trying, I’m just not sure if the secondary guid will work for this.
I tried the forked trakt scrobller you suggested above but it did not work for me. Kitana did work and helped me trigger the pull from trakt commands, but it got stuck and never completed. So ended up deleting both, since I have no other plug-ins other than trakt, so Kitana was pointless without this.
Thanks for your help.
If someone from plex is reading this, having the ability to integrate with trakt would be great to have for people like me who have had to do a fresh install or is migrating from another solution like Kodi or Emby. Especially to retain watched status and ratings.
Well kinda too late now. But deleting the original scrobbler files and replacing with one from the new
repo most likely removed all the cache.
If I recall when I changed over it took 5 or 6 attempts initially to get a successful sync (especially on a full sync with a large library.)
Anyway it would be sad if u leave for new pastures.
I actually spin-up Emby and Jellyfin occasionally just to check them out.
I would add that contrary to all my finding comparing the two I the past that Jellyfin is worth considering and features wise in now well ahead of Emby. Jellyfin is more limited in clients still, but that won’t matter if you’re preferred clients are supported.
Finally though it’s a shame that Plex really don’t get that a lot of us use Trakt.
