I’m somehow under the impression that plex the plex tvdb agent does no longer retrieve the full/correct metadata from tvdb since the last update. All shows I’ve added since then do not show the episodes description and only episode 1…n. titles instead of the correct titles.
As thetvdb website has all that information I’m assuming that there must be a problem retrieving it.
Is there any chance to only force refresh a single show/season as I’m afraid it’ll take a considerable amount of time refreshing my whole section. And then there’s always the option of losing custom data/posters and such.

Ok. original Problem solved. The TV Show was not matched. When matching manually there is only one result to be assigned. Strange that plex did not automatch the show.
Given that is there any chance to have a status indicator for "unmatched" entries?
And of course scanning / forcing refresh on a more granular basis than the whole section (i.e. starting from a single show or season) would be very nice.

...and this definitely goes for music sections, too. "force refresh" for an artist, for an album, for artists starting with a "A", "B",...
We've been wanting to better expose unmatched items for awhile. It's something we're actively thinking about.
I believe a force refresh on a single item is available via the api but nothing is exposed in the Plex/Web ui for triggering it. I'll look into adding something for this.
I was incorrect about the api supporting a force refresh on a single item. That is not currently possible. A force refresh is only available for sections.
I had a similar problem. I solved it by setting Plex to "Update my library automatically" in the Library-section of the settings. Then I used the unix-command "touch -am" to update the file's time stamps. On the next update Flex (finally) updated the file. Before that I tried several times to have Flex update my library by forcing a manual scan, but it never catched the new files in that particular instance.

I agree, this really needs to be addressed (still is an issue from 2013 to 2019) . we need to be able to run scan for new files for an INDIVIDUAL tv show, AND we need better visability into un-matched items.
Plex moved away from having lots of libraries, so i had to move that way too. So now i have very few libraries, but they are massive, and now its very difficult to rescan a single show that has been updated. (ie i have to rescan the entire TV shows library which understandable takes forever, yet here i am 3 hours later and the media i have added to a speicific tv show has not showed up yet, and i have no way to address this excpt to force a scan of me entire huge TV shows library, which ive already tried twice, but it just is too many files)
