Why is TV metadata not working for me?

Hello,

I’m new to plex and probably am doing something wrong.

I have a lot of TV shows - I started the scan about 9 hours ago - it only got about 1/5th and nothing new was updated in the past 4 hours. I tried to click on match and it couldn’t find any TV shows of that name so I switched my source from the TVDB to the movie database agent - it matched a lot more TV shows. However it doesn’t seem to be updating them either.

I’ve tried unmatching the show and fixing the match and selecting the right show with the year of the first episode.

I see refresh metadata is greyed out sometimes - is that because it is doing something in the background?

I’ve waited a bit and it doesn’t seem to be updating the blacklist metadata.

Even if I restart and force the refresh the icons and data remain blank -

This isn’t a problem for all my shows - but more than half.

Oddly enough right after I unposted and reposted this - the spinning tag icon showed up on that folder and it has the info! I’ll post back in the morning if any aren’t listing.

Naming & Organization

Make sure you follow Plex naming requirements. Plex is very picky with TV show naming and structure.

Example: /TVCurrent/The Blacklist/Season 01/The Blacklist - s01e01.ext.

  • The TV library must point to TVCurrent.
  • Use “The Blacklist” as listed at TheTVDB.com, not “Blacklist, The”
  • Do not add the year unless it is in the name at TheTVDB.com.
  • Use a season folder.

Trouble caused by TheTVDB

TheTVDB is making a lot of changes on their end, which results in matching problems on our end. If something does not match, try a Fix Match with the TV series ID as listed at TheTVDB (266189 for The Blacklist). Leave the year blank. It should match straight away.

Thanks - you are correct, it was the agent - switched it for a number that the TVDB couldn’t find and I’m down to my last show that is unidentified.
