Using the same files and the same player (Chromecast with Google TV), a week or two ago these would direct play without any issue. But now it will force a transcode, it looks like the Chromecast with Google TV app no longer supports HEVC? Was there an update recently that changed something?
As I’m seeing the same on FIre TV I think Plex broke something again.
It does not happen on every file, most probably it has something to do with SRT subtitles and/or TrueHD/EAC3 here.
4K HEVC with PGS subtitles and/or DTS-HD/DTS-X are playing fine, as are files without subtitles at all.
Same on Apple TV now when using the legacy player. New issue as it was okay before 8.13
