Forums unreachable from Century-Link

I’m in [US STATE] (accurate location provided if required), and I cannot access these forums without a VPN. I get a time out error. Pinging forums.plex.tv results in the domain plex.hosted-by-discourse.com, but it times out with no reply. Pinging the base domain hosted-by-discourse.com, I get no-host-found.

I have to load this using a VPN, and I can access the forums and post. Attempting to access the following:
plex.hosted-by-discourse.com

`hosted-by-discourse.com

I bet the discourse site disallows pings to their home URL, but it doesn’t explain why plex.hosted-by-discourse.com IP times out here. It’s likely why I cannot access the forums from my home ISP.

Feel free to move this to a more appropriate sub-forum if you need.

And, like magic, it starts working again just now. I hadn’t been able to access the forums all morning. There is an “outage” on status.plex.tv, but it claims to only be for support articles, and there is no “incident” related to it on the site.

After no reports of a forum outage on reddit, I tried the VPN to find it was (kind of) a me problem.

probably just a temp DNS problem with your end

Yeah… I couldn’t reach it on my mobile cellular plan, nor my local ISP. For both to be unworking, it had to be a regional issue, like an exchange to the major internet backbone here in my city/state.

I almost thought I was using google dns, but I don’t see that I am. Also, my router says it’s uptime indicates I lost internet about 3 hours ago, which is rare.

I flushed DNS, and the response I got back from looking up the domain forums.plex.tv was a different domain entirely, and THAT IP was unresponsive. That was pretty odd to me.
