Free NFL Metadata Agent

I built NFLMeta for Plex, a hosted metadata agent for your NFL games covering 1966–2026, including the regular season, playoffs, and Super Bowl.

It adds season and weekly posters, matchup artwork, final scores, game summaries, and player/coach information where available.

This actually started with an idea for a Plex agent. Building the database behind it turned into a much bigger project, and now I’ve finally come full circle!

A few things to know:

  • Requires Plex Media Server 1.43.0 or newer.

  • Free NFLMeta account required. Credit-card verification helps prevent abuse, but NFLMeta does not charge for verification or the Free plan, and it does not automatically start a paid subscription. Your
bank may show a temporary authorization.

  • No extra container or local NFLMeta application to install. Generate a private Provider URL, add the provider and agent in Plex, then select it for a compatible TV Shows library.

  • Your files stay yours. NFLMeta doesn’t need your Plex password or token and cannot browse your library or access your videos. We retain minimal connection/setup milestones, not filenames or viewing
    history.

  • Original artwork is included free.
The setup guide includes a searchable naming catalog so you can find the correct folders and filenames for your games. You provide your own game files; this supplies metadata and artwork, not videos or
streams. Summaries include scores, so expect spoilers.
